Sippin' on Summertime

I know, I've been a bad, absent blogger. But that's because I've been on vacation... in Minot, North Dakota.

What's that you say? Why on Gods green earth would I go on vacation to North Dakota willingly?

Yup, that's my sister. Her gorgeous face alone is the sole reason I would willingly subject myself to a vacation in North Dakota.

The whole shebang was great. Me and my boyfriend moseyed from the city in a 8 hour car ride just to visit. Then after about the first ohhh 7 hours we were really getting down and tired until I got this little gem from my sisters friend Cody that just set the tone for the whole trip.

It put a smile on my face and made the last hour bearable.

The first night was lazy. We settled in and looked at my sister and her husbands new house before watching movies and crashing.

The next day was lazy. Filled with movies until about 3 until my sister and I got ready, sipped wine, and the gang took off to the Chris Young concert at the North Dakota State Fair.

I wasn't the most photogenic that night, I blame the wine. But I was feeling good and extra snap happy.
All in all it was fun and after the concert we gorged ourselves on quesadillas and cheese curds before returning home.

Can you guess how the next day started? Mhm, rough and lazy. That's how it started.

We ate pizza for breakfast following with fetuccini alfredo for lunch. All while sipping lots of water, coffee, laying on the couch, and watching even more movies. Needless to say we weren't worried about our beach bodies at the moment.
Once my sister got home from work we got ready once again before making dinner. Which was interesting...

Note to self: You can't grill chicken if you put shake and bake on it.

The best part of dinner was these little babies.

FIRE IN THE HOLE!! You cut the top off a jalapeno, dig out the seeds, rim them with cracked red pepper, and fill with tequila. They taste like Mexico.

Then once again we skipped over to the fair, this time for the Blake Shelton concert. I wasn't as snap happy but it was equally as fun as the night before.

(Yes, I had to stand next to this beauty all night saying to myself "You is kind. You is smart. You is important.")

Once it was over everyone split up to find the fair food of their choosing before meeting back up to go home.

The next day they took us to meet their.... wait for it.... drum roll....
NEW PUPPY!
After meeting this little bugger and his parents I officially have puppy fever. Not to mention we went DEEP into the country and the puppy, named Ari, lives on a cute farm for now until she's old enough to be away from her mom.

The twins were creeping on me. One of them even came closer for a visit.

Boone the proud papa is in the above picture and Ari is in the following.
Cue the squeals.

Then it was off to their cabin which is on Lake Sakakawea. If you're from Minnesota it doesn't look like the kind of lake you're used to. It's surrounded by fields instead of trees. But that's okay with me. It was equally as gorgeous, only in a different way. Plus it had a lot of flowers and attracted less ticks (more like none). Their cabin is situated on a hill overlooking the lake and you need to take a golf cart down to the dock.

This above picture is of Coochie Cove. I know it's an unattractive name but our Svedka filled bodies were just immature enough to think of and agree to the name. We spent two full days on the boat in this cove, only stopping at night to sleep and eat, which included an old malt shop that had amazing food and malts. Cue the food porn feast.

We ventured home while reading magazines and decided it was time for some major detox tea. It even had sweet little sayings.

The rest is filled with, you guessed it, laziness and more junk food before me and the boyfriend drove back towards home but intersected the drive this time with a night in Fargo. We went to lunch, walked around the mall, went to the movies, ordered Italian to the room, and sat in the hot tub. It was perfect.

Then it was time to leave. We drove by the brightest sunflower fields and blue skies before returning home, where I am now sitting finishing this blog and procrastinating on homework about to watch yet another movie.

What'd you do this weekend?
