Earths Laughs ❁

Ever since I was 15 I've loved flowers. Everything about them.

I worked in a couple floral shops when I was young but have since moved onto other things.

But every once in a while I get an itch to arrange, even though my skills are rather rusty.

With my wedding coming in a few months I've decided to try and start regularly arranging flowers until my wedding in hopes of getting my edge back. Then maybe I can do my own centerpieces for my reception.

But what's the fun of having beautiful flowers if you don't share them.

I read a quote recently that said "Earth laughs in flowers."

So I've decided to start a 'segment' or something like that by sharing photos of my arrangements called Earths Laughs. Here's what I arranged for the first one...

So here's to the beginning of my flower journey. I don't know how often I'll be doing these but hopefully often. We'll see.

Hope you enjoy.

Till next time!

Ikea Weekend

So this weekend my sister and her friend came to visit for what I'm considering to be the first annual IKEA WEEKEND!

Thursday they drove the first half of their trip and I sat at home waiting anxiously for bed time. I felt like a 10 year old the day before a vacation just knowing that there's only one sleep between you and awesomeness. I calmed myself down with wine and RENT.

Britt and Britt (yes they're both named Brittany) are from Minot, ND so they don't have regular access to Ikea like Mitch and I do.

When they arrived Friday we instantly started talking about what we were going to do for the night. So what ended up happening?

We went to the old spaghetti factory. Classic.

It is delicious and foolproof. I dream of the cheese bread and the olive spread.

The Old Spaghetti Factory is a chain so you can easily see if they're by you by looking on their website.

After eating we decided to opt out of ice skating because of our workout earlier that day, so we stopped by a craft store on the way home and decided to watch movies, drink wine, and do arts and crafts instead.

I painted a big ol' R sparkly for our living room and a couple crosses to put by our doors.

Then before we knew it, it was IKEA TIME!!!

We woke up later than expected but after Mitch went on a french press and scone run we kicked our butts into gear.

The Britt's both have actual houses with their husbands they're trying to furnish rather than apartments so they had much larger lists and larger items than Mitch and I did. All we needed was 2 book shelves, TV stand, coffee table, and side table. Also a couple lamps and accessories.

After 4-5 hours in Ikea we had accomplished our missions and felt satisfied after BARELY fitting all of the Britts' stuff in their car to take back to Minot. We worked up quite the appetite so we scarfed down a couple hot dogs and went home... for about 5 minutes at least.

We may have made a jaunt up to the outlet mall... anyways...

After coming home and putting the rest of the furniture together we decided we deserved some beer and delivery chinese. Friends style.

So after cleaning up the apartment the next morning, this is what we ended up with.

We love our new little home, I think it's coming together nicely. I can see us starting a married life here until we get a down payment for a house. There are still some things we need to work on, but mostly just details now. Here's a glimpse of our little home:

(Ignore Mitch chillin' in the recliner...)

(Also ignore those ugly white chords, we haven't hidden them yet)

So there's a little piece of us. Hope you like it. I might be posting some DIY's as I personalize some stuff and work on the details.

I hope you had a good weekend!

Till next time,
xo

Four months later....

Why hello there old friends.

This post is not about anything much other than apologizing for my absence.

I started a new job, then life just seemed to happen, then my sister and I decided to start a blog together and co-write on it. However, that's turning into a much longer process than anticipated (but still happening - updates to follow). Then the holiday's rolled around.

If you've been with me long enough you would know that my family is living in Florida, which is amazing for me since I get to visit and escape Minnesnowta.

So other than working and spending time with family I honestly haven't done much for mentioning other than probably the Jingle Ball concert in MPLS. Check out my instagram for some pics and video's if you so choose.

For Christmas I came down to Florida and have been here a week but unfortunately leave tomorrow. It's been amazing seeing my family, we always have the best time when we're together.

There's a sign on my parents lanai that says "If you met my family you'd understand."

I think that's pretty accurate for our bunch.

So from here on out I promise to be better about posting - NO MORE EXCUSES! :)

It'll be a new years resolution of sorts. Weeee!

So that's it for this post. Here's a picture of the beach and my parents new puppy Gibson to tide you over till next time :)

M.I.A. ♥♥♥

Sorry I've been so absent lately. My life has been awesomely crazy! Because....

I'm engaged!! :)

Yaaaaaaaay I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with the most perfect guy I could possibly think of. He treats me like a princess and is the most genuine and kind person I've ever met.

We met almost 3 years ago and have been together ever since. Awww :)

The weekend started with me and Mitch meandering through Wisconsin and stopping at a waterfall, a cheese factory, a winery, and an old school ice cream shop before finally ended up in the Lakewoods Resort for just a night.

The next day we packed up and wandered a little more up to Bayfield to meet up with his family. We got there before them so we grabbed lunch and bought books and old fashioned candy and fresh sunflowers.

Once the family caught up we took the fairy over to Madeline Island where they were renting an amazing house for the weekend. The rest was filled with family and the beach and a proposal.

Here are some pictures from the best weekend of my life

So now starts planning and excitement and everything else that comes along with this.

IM SO HAPPY!!!!
