May Flowers

Don't worry this won't be a long post. I just need to share what happened today.

You see, it's May 1st. Wouldn't you expect the whole April showers bring May flowers stuff?

Well guess what, ITS NOT HAPPENING.

What you expect to see on campus -

What you actually see on campus -

And what Holly and I did to make light of mother natures practical joke -

If I have to turn my graduation dress into a graduation parka i'm going to be very upset.
STAHHHP!!

The end is near

Well my fellow people, the end is near.
Don't start thinking of the apocalypse or something, I'm talking about my time as an undergrad.

Graduation is in approximately 18 days and 20 minutes.

As my projects are starting to come to a close and my last finals week approaches I find it bittersweet that my time as an undergrad is ending. I made so many great friends and memories in the last 4.. or 2... (I'm not sure what to call it) years.

You see, I'm only 19. However, I'm graduating with my 4 year degree when other people in my age 'class' are only going to be juniors next year. It's quite confusing so I'll just say that PSEO does wonders people.

I wouldn't trade anything for the experiences that I got at college. My friends are amazing, one of the best ones happens to be sitting next to me right now, and my professors are more than just professors. They've calmed me down from many mental breakdowns and stress sessions. They've supported and encouraged me and my peers to believe that we can do great things, which we can. I have also learned many life lessons, such as don't waste time on those who aren't going to better your life in some way, they'll just end up bringing you down with them. Also it's not a good idea to try and rip your windshield wipers from your windshield while they're stuck in ice. You will end up breaking them and then your friends will have to hang out the window and use their hands as wipers.

Anywho... I haven't had the time lately to post many blogs because school got crazy and so did my living situation. I recently half-moved into a cute new apartment with my boyfriend in the Twin Cities. I still live about half the time in my on-campus apartment though until I graduate. Makes for a lot of driving, not to mention my clothes are split between two places.

In other recent news I got into Grad school! Yup you're looking at a student of the Bethel University Masters in Communication program starting this fall. That means that I'll be graduating with my Masters degree around the same time people my age are graduating with their bachelors degrees. Yikes.

I don't have many plans for the summer, hopefully a semi-long retreat to Florida to see my family and maybe another jaunt to Minot to see my sister and brother-in-law.

I also plan on drinking lots of tea (I recently invested in Teavana), getting very tan and fit, cooking, blogging more, and going on a couple adventures.

Ahh summer bliss, looking forward to it. :)

Talk to you after graduation!

Sisters Weekend

A month late and a dollar short I am finally going to write about my weekend in Fargo.

Me and my beautiful sister Brittany are best friends. So that's why, since we live far from each other, we wanted to get together and catch up a bit.

With her in the middle of nowhere North Dakota and me in the Twin Cities we decided that Fargo was about the middle point for us to have our weekend. Which is fine because we both love Fargo.

Look - the sun even kind of came out...!?

We started our first night by settling into the hotel and ate dinner at Ushers House - by far one of the best restaurants in town.

It was then off the the Fargo Force hockey game!

This has been quite the trend to my visits to fargo ever since my sister went to college there. The games are very fun and I am slowly learning to follow the puck... (Britt you'd be proud!)

(Pansies advertisement for the visiting team and Studs advertising for the home team. Advertising at its finest.)

We then had some wine and she taught me some brainstorming tactics that we used to think of ideas for my advertising project. Which turned out brilliantly by the way. But it came time where we called it a night knowing we had a full day ahead of us the next day.

A full day I say? Full of what?

Eating and Shopping of course!

We started off at Nichole's Fine Pastries in downtown Fargo.

After stuffing ourselves with Egg Bake (salami, artichoke, cheese, and egg), a turkey and cheese filled croissant, a lemon bar, and enough truffles to make our teeth fall out we rolled our way down the street to one of the most charming stores in Fargo - Zandbroz. They have wonderful stationary, home decor, books, and other random trinkets.

Having both spent too much money on things we didn't "need" we made our way to lunch at my personal favorite spot in Fargo the Drunken Noodle!

Their spicy fettucini is the best around and the sushi place attached to it has the infamous yummy roll that I have searched for for nearly 3 years since Britt's friend Abby gave me some and never told me where she got it from. I FOUND IT.

After stuffing ourselves yet again we wandered over to the mall to spend even more money on things we didn't really "need". This sign in the Victoria's Secret dressing room gave me a good chuckle.

After a long day on our feet and fleeting through shopping racks we were getting really tired. So we decided to cancel our dinner reservation and seek solitude at the hotel. We spent the rest of the night drinking more wine and sitting in the hot tub.

We also had some deliciously bad for us pizza. But who cares - it's sisters weekend!

The morning soon arrived and we woke up sad knowing that we would have to leave such a perfect weekend to go back to reality. We went to brunch and dragged it out as long as we could without having to say goodbye. However the time came and we parted ways, each going a different direction on I-94.

Don't worry though. I saw her two weeks later. And I'll see her in another three weeks in Florida :)

Do you and your siblings ever do anything special?

Things that make me happy

Have you ever been stressed or confused and it just totally brings you down?

It's like you're brain is static on a TV.

Well I'd like to assume that I'm not the only one feeling this during these long winter months. So that's why I'm taking responsibility for my happiness and listing the 10 things that make me happier than anything else in the world.

I'm leaving out all of the obvious stuff - such as my family, boyfriend, friends, and dog. Not because they don't make me immensely happy, but because I feel they are obvious statements that need not to be addressed.

Here I go! The top 10 things that make me the happiest in the entire world. (In no particular order)

Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men
Call me crazy but I feel I have a special connection to this song. Not only do I never get sick of it, but every time I start to get anxious it always seems to play. Whether it's in the car, at a store or even just sitting at home. When this song comes on is when I tell myself "you'll be fine" and I actually believe it.

Chocolate. I'm a girl, need I explain myself?

Flowers. Whether they be in gardens or fresh bouquets I love them. My first few jobs were at flower shops so nothing makes me happier or more reminiscent than smelling and working with fresh flowers.

My heated blanket makes me cozy on the cold winter months when the Minnesotan seasonal depression starts to kick in.... Snow... *sigh*

And although my heated blanket suffices when I need it to, I would rather take a sunny day at the beach. It just melts away all and any problems.

The Londoner
Reading this makes me want to cook and have adventures.
She's my blog idol - I could re-read her posts hundreds of times.

Wine
This kind is my favorite of the moment.

Pinterest! I like it all the time but when I'm feeling down I especially like to sit in the kitchen with my roommate Holly and laugh into the wee hours of the morning.

This picture is going to double count because I took this while on a sister get-away weekend (which will be a separate blog soon). First favorite thing in this photo: Sister weekends. They make everything better - plain and simple. Second favorite: Pizza. It also makes everything better.

There's my pick-me-ups! I hope you enjoyed getting into my mind a little bit. You now know how to cheer me up with your weapon of choice.

As you read this I hope you realize that YOU are responsible for your own happiness.

You can make your life what you want it to be, all you have to do is take a little initiative and make things happen.

So think about it... what kinds of things make you undoubtedly happy?

Till next time
